DEVOTION:
“Do not turn my heart to any evil, to busy myself with wicked deeds in company with those who work iniquity; do not let me eat of their delicacies. Let the righteous strike me; let the faithful correct me. Never let the oil of the wicked anoint my head, for my prayer is continually against their wicked deeds. When they are given over to those who shall condemn them, then they shall learn that my words were pleasant. Like a rock that one breaks apart and shatters on the land, so shall their bones be strewn at the mouth of Sheol. But my eyes are turned toward you, O God, my Lord; in you I seek refuge; do not leave me defenseless.”
Psalm 141: 4-8
Thought of the day:
Like-minded people, usually with little any bright future prospects, join together and commit illegal acts. Usually the more people that you get together, the easier it is to commit criminal acts and the worse these acts will become. One simple way to avoid evil is to reduce one’s encounters with it, for like begets like. The Devil hates nothing more than to be ignored. But being surrounded by evil, one is much better off to stay silent and to actively refuse to cooperate or collude with it. These can be as big as certain unethical corporations who boycott or as small as steering clear of groups of friends who are doing evil. For evil is dark, thick and enveloping; but never discourage to shine in God’s light, for at least trying to do what is right.
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, protect us from darkness, lead us to your light. Grant us your Love and guidance, and help us to refuse to all that is evil. We abhor sin and evil doers, Lord, and wish to take no part in it; to show it no indulgence, or to grant it any permission. Grant us your wisdom and lead us from the devil in the wilderness. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
